Preamble

Welcome to Kite-Odyssey, an organization dedicated to the discovery, guidance, and improvement of kitesurfing skills. Big Air Coaching is a branch of Kite-Odyssey, specializing in advanced coaching sessions for riders looking to refine their technique. These rules and regulations aim to ensure safety, respect for the environment, and an enjoyable learning experience for all participants. They are based on values of ethics, mutual respect, and the preservation of the natural sites where kitesurfing activities take place.

1. Respect for the Site and the Environment

Kitesurfing spots are often fragile natural sites. In order to preserve their beauty and their ecosystem:

  • Leave no trace : Each participant must ensure that they leave no waste behind. Bins are provided where possible.
  • Respect local flora and fauna : Avoid walking on the dunes or disturbing animals.
  • Avoid noise pollution : Kitesurfing is a nature sport that is practiced while respecting the surrounding silence.
  • Use eco-friendly equipment : We encourage the use of durable and environmentally friendly materials.

2. Safety on the Spot

Safety is a top priority at Kite-Odyssey and Big Air Coaching. To ensure everyone's safety:

  • Listen and follow the coaches' instructions : They are there to ensure your safety.
  • Check your equipment Before each session.
  • Respect the navigation zones Follow local signs for areas reserved for beginners, advanced users and areas where navigation is prohibited.
  • Never sail alone Always practice with a partner or under the supervision of a coach.
  • Report any incident or danger immediately to a manager.
  • Wear a helmet, impact vest and harness suitable for each session.
  • Cancellation of sessions depending on wind conditions : The school may decide to cancel a session if the wind is insufficient or too strong. In particular, the wind ranges considered unsuitable for the activity are:
    • Less than 12 knots on average (wind too weak for safe and effective practice).
    • More than 35-40 knots on average (wind too strong, dangerous for most participants). When the average wind speed exceeds 30 knots, the school reserves the right to offer the activity only to students with sufficient technical skills to practice in strong wind conditions.

3. Respect for Other Users

Kitesurfing spots are shared with other practitioners and walkers:

  • Priority to courtesy : Be respectful of other kitesurfers, swimmers and walkers.
  • Respect the rules of priority in navigation to avoid collisions.
  • Help others in times of difficulty : The spirit of mutual support is essential in the kitesurfing community.
  • Adopt a caring attitude towards all participants, whatever their level or origins.

4. Kite-Odyssey Commitments

  • Provide quality support in compliance with safety regulations.
  • Raising awareness among participants about the importance of environmental protection.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and provide appropriate advice for safe practice.
  • Create an inclusive and caring learning space.
  • Only charge for hours actually worked in case of wind failure during a session.
  • Do not welcome ACM (Collective Reception of Minors) type groups because the structure does not have the necessary capacity for this type of public.
  • Do not welcome people with disabilities because the conditions of the practice spot make management difficult.

We encourage open communication to ensure the best possible experience for everyone.
